The dictator was last seen in public during the meeting with ruling Workers' Party committee of policymakers on April 11.
After that meet, he didn’t appear for celebrations of North Korea's founding father and his grandfather, Kim Il Sung on April 15. It is then that rumour mills started working and reports floated in media that the leader has undergone heart surgery.
The 36-year-old dictator is a foodie and smokes, too. But on May 2, the leader quelled all the rumours and made his first public appearance by cutting the ribbon at the opening of a fertiliser factory in Sunchon.
His images at a ribbon-cutting ceremony were broadcasted in state media after which wild theorists started debating in social media whether the despot who appeared is a body alike.
The theorists online are closely scrutinising discrepancies in his facial, hairline, and dental features as compared with previous appearances. They started putting up before and after pics of his apperances.
Mostly his ears and teeth are raising the suspicion with people comparing images of a younger leader with the recent pictures.
A former British MP Louise Mensch also evinced interest in the theory. 'Teeth, Cupid's bow, others. Totally different. Look at those gnashes, if you must.' Mensch tweeted.
However, one of the images circulated that shows Kim with crooked teeth is perhaps an edited version of one of the officially published photos.
Another blogger Jennifer Zeng, shared numerous photos that have attracted users. She tweeted: 'Is the Kim Jong-un appearing on May 1 the real one? 4 things to watch: 1. Teeth 2. Ears 3. Hair 4. Sister.'
She also shared highlighted a dot on Kim's wrist, however, experts have said that this could be related to a recent cardiovascular procedure, which is believed to be the reason for his absence.
