New Delhi: A large number of Indian students turned up outside the Indian Embassy in Ukraine's Kyiv in the wake of a Russian military operation in the eastern European nation.
ANI quoted officials as saying that some students were accommodated inside the Embassy premises. For others, the officials organised safe lodgings nearby and the students were moved there, ANI reported.
According to the sources quoted by ANI, "A large no. of Indian students in Ukraine turned up outside Indian Embassy in Kyiv today morning. Not all could be accommodated in Embassy premises. The Embassy organised safe premises nearby, students moved there. No Indian is currently stranded outside the Embassy".
According to the sources, "This process took some time given the ground situation in Kyiv. As fresh students arrive, they are being moved to the safe premises. The Embassy is continuing to assist Indian nationals, including students, in Ukraine".

Meanwhile, the Ambassador of India to Ukraine, Partha Satpathy, has informed that the embassy is working round the clock for the safety of all the Indians.
"The embassy of India in Kyiv continues to operate round the clock looking out for the safety of all the Indians...If someone is stranded in Kyiv then reach out to friends, families, Indian community members, and the Indian Embassy"
Partha Satpathy also interacted with the students present inside the Indian embassy.
The Indian Embassy in Ukraine, in its latest advisory, has informed Indians living there that due to the martial law in place in Ukraine, movement is difficult at present and people hearing sirens and bomb warnings should rush to the nearest bomb shelter.
"As you are aware, Ukraine is under martial law, which has made movement difficult," it said as reported by news agency PTI.
It said for those understudies who are abandoned without a place of stay in Kyiv, the embassy is in contact with establishments to put them up.
"We are aware that certain places are hearing air sirens/bomb warnings. In case you are faced with such a situation, google maps has a list of nearby bomb shelters, many of which are located in underground metros," it said.
"While Mission is identifying possible solution to the situation, please be aware of your surroundings, be safe, do not leave your homes unless necessary and carry your documents with you at all times," it said.
