Security forces thwarted yet another infiltration bid by Pakistan based terrorists as the Indian Army on Friday intercepted terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara sector, following which an encounter got triggered off with the unidentified militants.

The troops deployed along the Line of Control at Machhal sector of Kupwara  detected suspicious movement, within 600m of LoC, of unidentified persons at 3 am in the wee hours of Friday.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said that in the morning a search was carried out and a blood trail seen. Though the troops couldn't nab the terrorists yet recovered three AKs, a sniper rifle, eight grenades and other warlike stores.


"Today early morning at about 3 am, a suspicious move of unidentified persons detected 600m on own side of LoC at Machhal Sector, Kupwara. Infiltrating terrorists intercepted by own troops. Firefight ensued. Operation in progress. After the first light, a search was carried out. Blood trail seen. 3 AKs, a sniper rifle, 8 grenades & other warlike stores recovered. Search in progress," the Chinar Corps tweeted.

Earlier on July 27, security forces busted two terrorist hideouts in Shopian and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir and recovered a huge stash of explosives and some ultra-modern IEDs.

A joint operation was launched by Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF’s 178 Battalion and Shopian Police on receiving inputs about the presence of militants from the Lashkar group in the Dachoo Zainpora orchards in Shopian district of South Kashmir.
