New Delhi: Days after Zomato, a food delivery platform, recommended Ghar ka khana (home-cooked food) via a tweet saying, "Guys, kabhi kabhi ghar ka khana bhi kha lena chahiye", several popular companies like YouTube, Mobikwik, TVF, Amazon Prime among others, joined the league of brand promotion in the same manner. Following which, Zomato again wrote on Twitter taking a witty jibe at the companies saying, "Guys, kabhi kabhi khud ke acche tweet bhi soch lene chahiye."

Last week Zomato triggered speculations that it may launch a service where people can order home-made food -- like that age-old tiffin service which is still popular in several parts of the country especially among students, working-class people and those living in private hostels.

It gave rise to the rumination that it may launch such service with its tweet last week, which was even appreciated by the company’s Founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal who replied by saying ‘good tweet’ with an emoticon.

Later, netizens went wacky on the post and had turned up with their wittiest way in multiple replies to the Zomato's tweet.

Meanwhile, its rival Swiggy is already catering to over 1,000 customers in Gurugram with its new app called "Swiggy Daily" that lets people order home-cooked meals prepared by tiffin service providers and home chefs. The new Swiggy app comes with a subscription-only plan for a period of one day or week or for months.

The tweet by Zomato is an indication that it is set to launch a Swiggy-style home-cooked meal service.
