New Delhi: Manish Kashyap, a YouTuber from Bihar who was accused of sharing misleading videos of Bihar migrant workers in Tamil Nadu has been booked under the National Security Act, said the Madurai Police on Thursday, as per ANI. Kashyap was sent to judicial custody till April 19 by Madurai court for posting fake videos of migrant labourers being attacked in Tamil Nadu.


“Manish Kashyap who circulated fake videos of Bihari migrant labourers being attacked in Tamil Nadu was detained under NSA Act,” the Madurai Police said.


On March 18, Kashyap had surrendered at Jagdishpur police station in Bettiah due to raids by Bihar Police and the economic offences unit (EOU). An FIR was earlier registered by the police against the YouTuber for circulating ‘misleading’ videos of Bihar migrants in Tamil Nadu.




The YouTuber was first zeroed down after he allegedly circulated fake videos and alleged that Biharis workers were attacked by Tamils. 


Reports had earlier stated that the Bihar Police had frozen the bank accounts of the YouTuber. 


The police had also received an arrest warrant after the FIR against Manish Kashyap and another Yuvraj Singh Rajput. 


Meanwhile, the police already arrested one of the accused Aman Kumar, a native of Jamui district.

"The main accused Rakesh Ranjan Kumar, a native of Gopalganj district had made the fake video in a rented accommodation in Patna's Bangali colony under Jakkanpur police station, with the help of 2 persons on March 6. He has confessed to the crime.” the Bihar police spokesperson had told news agency IANS.


“The whole idea behind making a video in Patna was to mislead the police of Bihar and Tamil Nadu. We have cross checked with the landlord of Rakesh Ranjan Kumar and he has also confirmed that the video was made at his house," the spokesperson added.
