Amid the row over the renaming of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library as the Prime Ministers' Museum and Library Society, the Bharatiya Janata Party has said that the government is giving respect to all the former prime ministers irrespective of the party, and the Congress is making an issue out of it. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the youth are being taught about the contributions of all the former prime ministers through a video clip that is played in the museum.

"...We are giving respect to our former Prime Ministers irrespective of the party. The Congress party is unnecessarily creating an issue out of it...I dont know why is there a ploblem with it. Our youth is being taught through a video clip which is played in the museum regarding the  contribution made by all the Prime Ministers of our country," Pralhad Joshi said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

The renaming has triggered a war of words between Congress and the ruling BJP. Earlier, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said "Jawaharlal Nehru is known for the work he did and not just his name". Gandhi made the remark as he embarked on a two-day visit to Ladakh. Jairam Ramesh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a single point agenda of "denying and defaming" the Nehruvian legacy.

"Modi possesses a huge bundle of fears, complexes and insecurities, especially when it comes to our first and longest serving Prime Minister. He has had a single point agenda of denying, distorting, defaming and destroying Nehru and the Nehruvian legacy," Ramesh said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). "He (Modi) has erased N and put P instead. That P is really for pettiness and peeve," the Congress leader further said.
