'You Were Given 5 Minutes': Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij Stopped By Amit Shah For Long Speech

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday snubbed Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij for stretching his speech too long during the inauguration of Bharatiya Janata Party’s two day  Chintan Shivir. Vij was interupted at least four times during his eight-and-half minute speech by Shah.

Amit Shah eventually cut him short saying that he was allotted only five minutes and he has already take eight-and-half minutes. The keynote address was given by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Vij delivbered the welcome address and Shah was the last speaker.

Vij was to express gratitude to Amit Shah for attending the event. But after few minutes into the speech, the Haryana Home Minister started talking about the history of Haryana, Green Revolution. He even talked of the grievance redressal session he held every week.

Shah was sitting just a few seats away from Vij. He started by listening intently but after sometime he sent a note to the minister, apparently asking him to wind up so that the programme can move ahead as per schedule. When it had no effect, he turned on his mic and tapped it, gesturing at Vij. The state Home Minister continued his speech.

"Anil-ji, you were allotted five minutes. You have already spoken eight and a half minutes. Please end your speech. This is not the place to give such long speeches. keep it brief," Shah said. But Vij asked for a few more seconds, saying he had one more point to make. When Shah allowed it, he continued with the long list of achievements. By now, Shah was visibly distraught. "Anil ji, please forgive me. This will not work. Finish it," he said.

Under the two-day Chintan Shivir, Chief Ministers of nine states and Home Ministers or top police officers will discuss law and order and national security under the chairmanship of Amit Shah.

During his address at the Chintan Shivir on Friday, PM Modi said that small piece of fake news can kick up a storm across the nation. He also said that stringent action against negative forces is our responsibility.

Besides, Deputy Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Nagaland; Governor of Rajasthan; Home Ministers of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Odisha, Telangana; Finance Minister of Jharkhand among others took part in the event which is organised with the objective to prepare an action plan for the implementation of 'Vision 2047' and 'Paanch Pran' announced in the Independence Day speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
