New Delhi: Punjab's politics is gaining heat ahead of the assembly elections in 2022. Shiromani Akali Dal leader and Lok Sabha MP from Bathinda, Harsimrat Kaur Badal staged an attack on Captain Amarinder Singh. She alleged that a deal was made between the former Punjab CM and the BJP to fulfill the agenda of the latter.

Stating that after becoming the chief minister of Punjab, 'cases of black money' against Captain Amarinder Singh were brushed under the carpet as a part of a 'compromise' between the two. "The extent to which Captain sahab compromised with BJP became very clear when cases of black money in Swiss Bank accounts & ED and IT cases (against him) were brushed under the carpet when he became the CM. Their deal was very clear," she told ANI.

These statements come a day after Captain Amarinder Singh announced to launch his own political party in the run-up to Punjab Assembly Elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday reciprocated warmly to the former Chief Minister's offer for a "seat-sharing" alliance saying that the party is ready to join hands with the former Punjab CM.

Attacking Amarinder Singh on the issue of farmers' protest, Kaur said that the former CM 'used the farmers' and is handing over 'farming of Punjab to Modi-Shah'. "A CM who had taken the oath for Punjab becomes helpless to an extent that he hands over the farming of Punjab to Modi-Shah & stops agriculture in the state. After the death of 800 farmers, today Captain sahab says that he will get the matter resolved by BJP," she said.

"When people made you the CM, Sunil Jakhar said that you directed the farmers to Delhi. It means you used the farmers. Today we can see that to what extent you fulfilled the agenda of BJP," Kaur added.
