New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's father who had been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, passed away on Monday morning..His father Anand Singh Bisht (89) was suffering from liver and kidney problems. Hours after his demise, Adityanath announced that he will not be able to take part in the last rites which will take place tomorrow. In a statement Adityanath said that due to the nationwide lockdown and the fight against the coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh he will not be able to attend the rites. He has also advised family members to follow lockdown protocols and ensure minimal gathering during the funeral.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called UP CM Yogi Adityanath yesterday and enquired about his father’s health. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda had gone to meet UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s father at AIIMS in Delhi yesterday.
The Additional Chief Secretary (Home) of the Uttar Pradesh Awanish K Awasthi informed about the demise of CM's father and also offered his condolences. He said, “CM Yogi Adityanath's father left for his heavenly abode at 10.44 am. Our deepest condolences.”
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi offered her condolences via Twitter in which she wrote in Hindi,‘I offer my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh yogi Adityanath’s father Anand Singh Bisht. May the almighty give him the strength to face such a difficult ‘time.’
National Spokesperson of Congress, Abhishek Singhvi also Tweeted his consolations. He wrote,” Sincere & heartfelt condolences on sad demise of father of #UP #CM. #RIP #OM #Shanti.”
Just hours before the news about his father Adityanath also spoke with The Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray regarding the brutal lynchings in Palgahar, Maharashtra. Bisht was undergoing treatment at the gastroenterology department of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, sources at the hospital said. He was admitted after his health deteriorated and his condition was critical, they said.
