The Delhi Police have denied allegations of their personnel using force against protesting wrestlers at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday night, and claimed that no cop was drunk. Also, five police personnel sustained injuries during the night scuffle, the Delhi Police said. New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police has tweeted that sufficient women officers were on duty during the night of May 3, 2023, and on medical examination, no police personnel were found drunk.
The tweet also said that five police personnel sustained injuries during the night scuffle.

The DCP also said that one of the protestors left the hospital against medical advice and has not given a statement to the police yet.
“No force was used by police personnel against the protestors. Regarding injury to one protestor, he left the hospital against medical advice and has not given a statement to the police yet,” the DCP tweeted.
But the wrestlers have alleged that the Delhi Police beat them up and that two protesters were hurt in the head.
Also, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Delhi Police of spreading lies, according to a PTI report.
AAP Chief Spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj said during a press conference on Thursday that the DCP’s tweet has “three lies”, the report said.
Quoting Bharadwaj, the PTI report said police have been accused of misbehaving with one of four women wrestlers, and that the ones accused are probing the matter. He also said that Delhi Commission For Women (DCW) Chief Swati Maliwal reached the spot of the scuffle last night along with her counsellor, after receiving a complaint, but the police threw her away.
Bharadwaj also said that the police are not allowing investigation. “Please read law books and basic law.”
AAP’s chief spokesperson also questioned the Delhi Police's claims that their personnel were not drunk. He said that the policeman who was allegedly drunk was made to throw up by the police so that an alcohol test could not prove that he was drunk. "It was seen by us that he was made to throw up. They will come all clear in the alcohol test. Police trying to save their skin,” Bharadwaj was quoted as saying in the report.
