New Delhi: At the World Hindu Congress in Chicago, FTII Chairperson Anupam Kher's bio introduced him as the Chairperson of  FTIB, i.e, Film and Television Institute of ‘Bharat’ instead of Film and Television Institute of 'India', sparking yet another controversy.

The changed name of the institute in the World Hindu Congress app, comes at  a time when RSS is pushing the usage of the name Bharat, instead of India.

The joint general secretary (Sah Sarkaryavah) of RSS Dattatreya Hosabale, while speaking to ABP News, defended the representation of FTII as FTIB. Dattatreya said that he does not see anything controversial in calling India as Bharat, because that is the Hindi translation of ‘India’.

However, those questioning the move are of the opinion that the translation of India to Bharat is done in Hindi scripts not in English introductions. It also raises question that why only India was translated and not the full name of the institute.

As per the information received, the translation of India is not limited only to the World Hindu congress official app, but the organizers of the WHC also underlined the usage of the correct term (Bharat) for India, in an e-mail with the subject ‘Reclaim Bharat’.

Dattatreya also reiterated that RSS is confident of Modi’s win in the 2019 general elections.

The second World Hindu Congress being marked in Chicago, coincides with the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s speech at the Parliament of World Religions in 1893 in Chicago.
