UP Elections 2022: Few months ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav made an announcement that to provide 300 units of electricity free of cost if his party comes to power in the next election.
The Samajwadi Party took to Twitter and said, ''Household power consumers will get 300 units of electricity free of cost in the SP government". In addition, the party announced that farmers will get free electricity for irrigation.
Mentioning the same, party president Akhilesh Yadav tweeted,"Hearty congratulations and best wishes for the new year! Now in '22, 'New UP' will have a new year with a new light. 300 units domestic electricity-free and irrigation bill will be waived. May the new year give everyone peace and happiness. The Samajwadi Party will form the government and provide 300 units of domestic electricity and irrigation electricity for free.
Akhilesh Yadav also shared a picture of one of his political rallies where a huge crowd can be witnessed amid the Omicron scare. While the Election Commission reviewed the Covid situation in the state in the past few weeks for conducting assembly polls, Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra on Thursday said all political parties in Uttar Pradesh want the Assembly elections to be held according to schedule while ensuring Covid protocol.
The CEC also asked the state to step up coronavirus vaccination.
Chandra also mentioned that the number of polling booths will be increased and the voting time enhanced by an hour, he said, adding polling officials will be vaccinated and those eligible will be given a booster dose.
