With Assembly elections barely a year away, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chastised non-performing officials and suspended two employees for incompetence while addressing at an event in Shivpuri district on Friday, news agency PTI reported.

He also stated that one lakh government positions will be filled by August 15, 2023, and that the process of establishing a municipal corporation for Shivpuri city will begin soon.

“I will embrace and carry on my shoulders the officials who are doing good work, but will not tolerate those who indulge in wrongdoings," Chouhan said during a ceremony to dedicate or launch development projects worth Rs 135 crore in the district.

He also announced the suspension of Shivpuri's CMO and Pichore town's junior supply officer due to suspected carelessness.

He mandated adequate monitoring of the delivery of vital items from fair pricing stores, as well as the inclusion of qualified beneficiaries whose names are missing as soon as possible.

He declared that by August 15 of next year, recruiting for one lakh government positions will be completed.

According to the chief minister, the process of establishing a municipal corporation for Shivpuri (which now has a municipal council) will begin, and Rs 8.5 crore would be allocated for town beautification.

He recognised authorities such as district panchayat chief executive officer Umrao Singh for his efforts in executing the Amrit Sarovar programme and sports officer K K Khare for his contributions to the sports department.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that Shivpuri is Lord Shiva's sacred town, and the chief minister is working tirelessly to enhance it.

His forefathers' ambition of developing Shivpuri's Madhav National Park is coming true, he claimed, since three tigers are on their way to the park.

Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Minister for Sports, Youth Welfare, and Technical Education, and Mahendra Singh Sisodia, Minister for Panchayats and Rural Development, both spoke at the event.
