After Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from Lok Sabha on Friday, his sister and party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed Nerendra Modi-led government and stated that we had "never bowed before a coward, power-hungry dictator like you and will never do."
"You call my family a dynast. But this family has irrigated India's democracy with its blood, which you are trying to finish. This family raised the voice of the people of India and fought for the truth for generations. The blood that runs in our veins has one specialty - it has never bowed before a coward, power-hungry dictator like you and will never do. Do whatever you want," Priyanka Gandhi tweeted in hindi.
In a searing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Priyanka Gandhi accused the PM of "trying to finish" India's democracy. "Narendra Modi, your sycophants called the son of a martyr prime minister a traitor and Mir Jafar. One of your chief ministers raised questions about who Rahul Gandhi's father is," she said.

Slamming PM Modi, Gandhi stated: "In line with the custom of Kashmiri Pandits, a son wears a turban after his father's death, keeping his family's traditions alive. But you insulted the whole family and the Kashmiri Pandit community in parliament and asked why he didn't keep Nehru as his surname. But no judge convicted you. You were not disqualified from parliament."
In reference to Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, and Mehul Choksi, Gandhi questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party for reportedly rescuing those "who looted the country's money."
“Nirav Modi Scam – 14,000 Cr. Lalit Modi Scam – 425 Cr. Mehul Choksi scam - 13,500 Cr. Why has the BJP come to the rescue of those who looted the country's money? Why is the party running away from investigation? Those who are raising questions on this, cases are brought against them. Does the BJP support the corrupt?” she tweeted.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat declared Rahul Gandhi's disqualification, stating that it took effect as of March 23, the day of his conviction.
"Consequent upon his conviction by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Surat...Rahul Gandhi, Member of Lok Sabha representing the Wayanad Parliamentary Constituency of Kerala stands disqualified from the membership of Lok Sabha from the date of his conviction i.e. 23 March, 2023," the notification read.
Rahul Gandhi would be ineligible to run for office for eight years following his disqualification unless a higher court overturned his conviction and sentence.
The Congress responded to Gandhi's disqualification by stating that it would fight the case "both legally and politically."
