The statement came minutes after the all party meeting taking place Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan; which for especially called to discuss the reservation issue, got finished.
"Appealed that situation should be peaceful and no one should take the extreme step. Requested Backward commission to submit its report and then we'll convene a special assembly session" CM said.
The Chief Minister also said that the government will cancel the registration of colleges, who try to trouble Maratha students over fee concessions. “We’re ready to cooperate with colleges if they have any problem, but if they deliberately try to trouble Maratha students over fee concessions, the education department will cancel their registration” CM said.
Fadnavis asserted that the cases registered against protesting Marathas will be taken back. “I have instructed the DGP that cases registered against people, participating in protests, should be taken back. Only the serious cases like attacking police personnel, indulging in arsoning etc will not be taken back”.
Clarifying government’s stand on Maratha reservation issue CM said, “Government had framed a law for Maratha reservation but that was stayed by HC. We realised it's a special situation and reservation can be given only on recommendation of Backward commission. Unfortunately, commission's 1st chairman passed away, we appointed a new and that took time”.
