Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav met veteran actor Rajinikanth in Lucknow on Sunday. Following his meeting with the actor, Yadav took to X, formerly Twitter, to express his "happiness". Yadav said, "When hearts meet, people embrace". He added, "During my engineering studies in Mysore, the happiness I used to feel seeing Rajinikanth ji on the screen is still intact. We met in person 9 years back and have been friends ever since".






Rajinikanth, who attended the special screening of ‘Jailer’ in Lucknow on Saturday, will visit Ayodhya on Sunday. "Jee kal program hai. (Yes the programme is tomorrow),” he told ANI on Saturday after being asked about his special plans to visit the birthplace of Lord Ram.


Speaking about his meeting with Akhilesh Yadav, Rajinikanth said, "I met Akhilesh Yadav 9 years ago at a function in Mumbai and we are friends since then, we talk on phone. 5 years ago when I came here for a shoot but I couldn't meet him, now he is here so I met him," as quoted by ANI. 






Meanwhile, on Saturday, Rajinikanth hosted the screening of his latest release 'Jailer' in Lucknow. UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya attended the screening. The actor reached Lucknow for the screening on Friday night. He expressed his excitement about the kind of response his film is receiving from the audience. “... It’s God’s blessing that the movie is becoming a hit,” he told ANI.
