During his two-day visit to Ladakh, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi engaged with youth during an event in Leh on Friday, news agency ANI reported. While engaging with the youth, Congress MP stated: "India got freedom in 1947 and consolidation of freedom in India is the constitution. The Constitution is a set of rules...The way you put Constitution into action is by setting up institutions that support the vision of the Constitution. The Lok Sabha, and Rajya Sabha, planning commission, forces all these elements... Now what the BJP and RSS is doing is it is placing its own people in key positions of institutional structure."

Earlier today, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was seen watching a football match in Leh. The leader sat in the crowd to witness the game and shook hands with the players. During the game, many individuals were spotted snapping pictures with Rahul seated alongside them.

This is Rahul's first visit to Ladakh since Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two Union Territories, Ladakh and J-K, on August 5, 2019, following the repeal of Articles 370 and 35 (A).

Rahul Gandhi's Ladakh visit has been extended to August 25, according to party sources.

Rahul Gandhi will commemorate his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's birthday on August 20 at Pangong Lake, according to party sources, ANI reported.

During his tour, he will also visit the Kargil Memorial and meet with the youngsters.

On August 25, he will also attend the meeting of the 30-member Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)-Kargil elections.

The Congress and the National Conference have formed a pre-poll coalition against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Kargil council elections, which are slated for September 10.

Rahul Gandhi arrived in Ladakh on Thursday and was greeted warmly by party leaders and workers at the Leh airport.

Despite visiting Srinagar and Jammu thrice earlier this year, the Congress MP did not visit Ladakh. During his Bharat Jodo Yatra in January, the Congress leader visited Jammu and Srinagar. He returned to the Gulmarg ski resort on a personal visit in February.
