Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday has kept the gates for Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Dinesh Trivedi, who resigned from Rajya Sabha, open. BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya hinted that Dinesh Trivedi is welcome into the party fold as he alleged that those doing good work cannot function in a "party run by the mafia."
Launching a frontal attack on West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said no other state in the country “has this kind of political violence taking place like in the West Bengal”.
“Whoever does good work cannot function in TMC. It is run by the mafia. We will welcome him into the BJP if he intends to join,” he told ABP Live.

West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh echoed with similar sentiments and invited Trivedi to join the saffron party.
“We had been always saying that one cannot work in the TMC. We are ready to accommodate him in the BJP and work together,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Trivedi announced his resignation as the Rajya Sabha MP while participating in the discussion over the Union Budget in the Upper House.
Trivedi, who made the announcement from the floor of the House, said he is unhappy about the violent episodes witnessed in West Bengal and feels frustrated about not being able to speak out his mind. Trivedi also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership which he said evidently drove the country out of the coronavirus pandemic. He, however, said, that he would continue to work for the people of West Bengal even after resignation.
Trivedi’s resignation assumes significance for the BJP as West Bengal goes to polls in April-May this year.
The BJP, which has been straining every nerve in a bid to conquer the throne of Kolkata, has so far left no stones unturned in taking potshots at the TMC leadership with Prime Minister Modi himself leading the charge.
