In a press conference at the state secretariat Nabanna building, CM Mamata said, “With multiple crises in state, we've decided to increase State Govt workforce capacity from 50 per cent to 100 per cent. Continuation of restoration work is one of top priorities and workforce increase will ensure that public services are uninterrupted.”
Speaking of the tea gardens and jute mills, she said that these may resume work with 100 per cent work strength from June 1.
“The lockdown will continue with minimal effects. Jute mills and tea gardens will operate with 100% workforce capacity. We are together in this. I am sure with all your cooperation and understanding Bengal will emerge victoriously,” Mamata said.
With a sharp attack on the Central government for running shramik special trains without maintain the norms of social distancing, Mamata in her virtual interaction with the media said that prerogative lies with the respective managements of private entities to decide on workforce capacity and act accordingly.
“In the private sector, I urge all to stay safe, work indoors as much as possible and to the best of their abilities,” TMC leader added.
Among the announcements over what’s open and what’s shup from June onwards, CM also announced on opening of worship places. Mamata said that all places of worship - Temples, mosques, gurdwaras, churches - will open from June 1. However, maximum of 10 people will be allowed at a time. She added that there will be no assembly at religious places.
Speaking of the local transportation, CM said that buses will run with passengers as per their sitting accommodation. No passenger will be allowed to stand inside a running bus. As far as the schools are concerned, Mamata said that all schools will remain closed throughout June.
