The India Meteorological Department said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala from September 4 to 6, news agency IANS reported. The weather prediction for Northeast India predicts mild to moderate scattered to moderately widespread rainfall and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy rainfall likely over Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from Saturday to Sunday. In East India, mild to moderate moderately widespread to widespread rains, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected. Isolated heavy rain is expected in Gangetic West Bengal on Sunday and in Odisha till September 6.


Speaking with ANI, Senior Scientist of IMD Bhubaneswar Uma Shankar Das stated: "Widespread rainfall can occur in the next 48 hrs...Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected to occur in parts of North Odisha...Five districts are warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall: Dhenkanal, Angul, Kalahandi, Boudh, and Kandhamal...People have been warned to take safe shelter during lightning and thunderstorms...People should stay away from trees and water bodies."






“Additionally, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will experience these conditions from Saturday to September 5, with isolated very heavy rainfall expected from Saturday to September 4 over the islands and from September 4 to 5 over Odisha,” the IMD's bulletin was quoted by IANS in its report.


The IMD also forecasted mild to moderate widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning across Central India.


“Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Vidarbha from September 5 to 6 and over Chhattisgarh on Saturday and from September 4 to 6.” it said.


There is a prediction for light to moderate sparingly widespread to widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning in West India.
“Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Konkan and Goa on Saturday, over Madhya Maharashtra on Saturday and Sunday, and over Marathwada on September 4 and 5,” said the IMD.


“North Interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema will experience this weather till September 4, while Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Kerala and Mahe will have these conditions from Saturday to September 6,” said the IMD.


“Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on September 4, over Telangana from September 4 to 5, and over Kerala from September 4 to 6.


"However, for the rest of the country, subdued rainfall activity is expected over the next five days,” it added.
