A building in Maharashtra's Thane district caught fire on Sunday morning as a result of a lightning strike after heavy rains drenched various sections of Thane and adjacent Palghar district in the early hours, according to authorities, news agency PTI reported. The plastic roof of a building in the Durgesh Park region of Bhiwandi town in Thane caught fire at 6.45 a.m., according to Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell officer Sakhib Kharbe. He stated no one was hurt in the fire, but the blaze destroyed the building's plastic top.






IMD has issued orange alert and predicted heavy rains are very likely in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar while thunderstorm accompanied by lightning is very likely in parts of Nashik and Ahmednagar, ANI reported.






The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast severe to very heavy rainfall in various states during the next two days, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Heavy rain is also expected in the whole states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala until Monday. The meteorological service has issued a yellow warning for two southern states for Sunday and Monday. 


On Saturday, heavy rain pelted numerous districts in Tamil Nadu, causing officials to announce a vacation in all schools in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, and Kanchipuram. The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) reported moderate rain with thunderstorms in one or two locations in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram districts, and the coastal parts of Villupuram and Cuddalore districts.


According to the IMD's most recent weather update, Tamil Nadu got heavy to very heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours (until 8:20 a.m.). Sethiyathope, Lalpet, Kothavacherry, and Srimushnam in Cuddalore received the most rain. 






The IMD has issued an orange alert for 20 Madhya Pradesh districts for Monday. Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ujjain, Indore, Ratlam, Seohar, Khandwa, Khargone, and other districts in the western-south area are anticipated to be affected by severe rainfall.   






"Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied with hail at isolated places likely over south Rajasthan and north Madhya Maharashtra on 26th; over southwest Madhya Pradesh and Marathwada on 26th and 27th and over East Madhya Pradesh on 27th November," the IMD said.
