BJP national president J P Nadda Saturday mocked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for agreeing to implement PM Kisan Yojna only after realising that her party is fast losing ground among the farmers in the state.




Nadda, who launched the 'Krishak Suraksha Abhiyan' to woo farmers in the poll-bound state, said it is "too late" for the TMC government to agree to implement the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.

Aiming to reach out to farmers ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, BJP chief J P Nadda on Saturday collected fistfuls of rice from five farmers' households in Purba Barddhaman district. The BJP's 'Chal Songroho' (rice collection) drive under its 'Krishak Suraksha Abhiyan' was conducted in Jagadanandapur village in Katwa.




Accompanied by West Bengal BJP leaders including the party's state unit chief Dilip Ghosh, Nadda spoke with farmers to know about their condition and pasted posters of the campaign on the walls of their houses as women blew conch shells.

BJP President JP Nadda has reached Burdwan and is currently visiting the Radha Mohan Temple seeking blessings from God for the upcoming Bengal elections. BJP State Cheif Kailash Vijawargiya spoke to ABP News and launched an attack on West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee saying Didi has deprived of the benefits the Centre has provided to the farmers but now her ego has shattered and she is trying to approach the governor to maintain good relations.
Since the Trinamool Congress is expected to rake up the issue of the ongoing farmers’ stir near the Delhi border, the BJP is pulling out all stops to dispel concerns about the new farm laws. The party has instructed its functionaries to carry out door-to-door campaigns, write letters and hold meetings locally across the states covering all the booths to dismiss the allegations that the farm bills are aimed at providing benefit to corporates.
There are 71.23 lakh farmers' families in West Bengal, 96 percent of them small and marginal.

According to state BJP, Nadda's visit assumes immense significance as this will be his first visit to the state after the attack on his convoy during his journey to Diamond Harbour from the city on 10 December.
Nadda, in a bid to blunt opposition camp's "anti- farmer" allegations against the BJP-led central government, will float 'Ek Muthi Chawal' (a fistful of rice), a project under which he would collect rice from farmers' homes and brief them about the benefits of the new legislations.

Bharatiya Janata Party president JP Nadda will reach West Bengal on Saturday, leading the party’s door-to-door canvassing and also to launch a new campaign ‘Ek Muthi Chawal’ (fistful of rice grains) to dispel the opposition’s charge that the BJP government at the Centre is anti-farmer.

According to a party functionary, Nadda will launch the campaign in Burdwan district of the election bound state and the process will be carried forward by party workers who will visit farming households across 48,000 villages to collect rice.

“It is a month-long drive to collect rice, which will then be used for a community meal for farmers, and the poor,” the functionary said.

Nadda, who won high praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the party’s performance in the Bihar assembly election, has been leading the West Bengal election strategy as well.
