Independence Day 2022: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on the 76th Independence day, hoisted the national flag at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, Maharastra. Several RSS volunteers and pracharaks were present during the event which was held amid tight security, according to news agency PTI.
The RSS has organised a programme on the occasion of Independence Day at Dr Hedgewar Smarak Samiti in the Reshimbagh area, where Nagpur Mahanagar Sahsanghchalak Shridhar Gadge will be the chief guest.
The swayamsevaks will also carry out 'path sanchalan' (march past) in various parts of the city at 5 pm.
According to PTI, while addressing the gathering Bhagwat said India got freedom after a lot of struggle and it needs to be self-reliant adding that the country will give the message of peace to the world.
"Today is the day of pride and resolution. The country got freedom after a lot of struggle, it needs to be self-reliant," he said.
Bhagwat also said people should not ask what the country and society give them but should think about what they are giving to the country. Some RSS volunteers and pracharaks were present during the event which was held amid tight security.
On Saturday, the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat hoisted the tricolour at the organization's headquarters as part of the `Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign. Nagpur district collector R Vimla visited the RSS headquarters during the day and presented Bhagwat a national flag under the campaign, a Union government initiative to mark 75 years of Independence, an official said.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised people to use the 'Tiranga' (tricolour) as the profile photo on their social media accounts between August 2 and 15. The RSS updated the profile images of its social media accounts from the customary saffron flag to the national tricolour on August 12.
