NEW DELHI: A government college professor in Madhya Pradesh was seen in a video apologizing and touching the feet of some Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad activists, who allegedly accused him of being anti-national.

In a viral video shared by news agency ANI, the professor named Dr Dinesh Chandra Gupta of Rajiv Gandhi Government College in Mandsaur was teaching a class when an ABVP team allegedly reached there to submit a memorandum over the delay in B.Sc results.

The student activists started raising slogans and when the professor requested him to stop as he was teaching a class, instead of paying heed to this the activists started shouting against him. They accused Gupta of being ‘anti-national’ for stopping them from raising ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogans.

In the viral video, the professor can be seen touching the feet of these activists and continued to beg for an apology. He also says “I commit the crime of teaching.”

The principal of the college later gave a comment on the matter and said "Students are alleging that professor stopped them from raising ‘Bharat mata ki jai’ slogans. However, nothing like that happened. He just stopped them from raising slogans. They even demanded him to apologise"

It is said that after getting fed up with the hooliganism of ABVP, the professor had to touch the feet of the student leaders and is now a three day leave form the college.
