Authorities reported that an altercation arose between over 30 private security personnel and students at Gautam Buddha University, a state-run educational institution located in Greater Noida, resulting in police arresting both parties, news agency PTI reported.


A video clip circulating on social media seemingly depicts individuals wielding sticks and damaging parked cars and motorcycles near a hostel. The individual residing in the hostel is also heard using offensive language.

According to a police spokesperson, a conflict erupted at the Munshi Premchand Hostel within the university premises when security guards purportedly raised objections to certain students smoking cigarettes.


Speaking with PTI, the police spokesperson stated: "An argument broke out between the two sides around 10.30 pm on Sunday and blew into a clash after which 33 people were taken into custody by a police team which reached the spot. The police have received complaints from both sides and the matter is being probed."

The arrested individuals include both private security guards and college students who were involved in the altercation, according to the official. However, the specific number of each group was not immediately known.


A senior official is leading an investigation into an incident that occurred in the vicinity of Ecotech 1 police station, and additional arrests might be made, according to the spokesperson's statement.
