New Delhi: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly assaulting an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of traffic police, when they were impounding their vehicles in north Delhi.


In Delhi’s Mayapuri area, a man and a woman riding a scooty, misbehaved with ASI Surendra of traffic police. A video of the incident has surfaced in which the woman named Madhuri can be seen shoving and pushing the traffic police personnel.

The woman can be seen misbehaving with even the passers-by who tried to intervene while she was assaulting the cop.

On the complaint of the ASI, Delhi Police has registered a case against Madhuri and the rider named Anil Kumar Pandey.  They have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty, police said

Both of them tested positive in the alcohol test, as per the police.

As per the police officials, the man Anil riding the vehicle is a former soldier. The two were apprehended by the traffic police for not wearing helmets and for standing ahead of the zebra crossing during red-light. When they were asked for showing their license, the woman got into an altercation with the police.

The police made the arrests under IPC section 186 and 353. The woman was sent to Nari Niketan for the night. They will be produced before the court today.
