The Border Security Force on Thursday celebrated the 77th Independence Day at the Attari-Wagah Border in Punjab’s Amritsar. BSF Deputy Inspector General Sanjay Gaur hoisted the national flag on the occasion. The celebration were followed by the Beating Retreat Ceremony which starts in the evening immediately before the sunset and involves a parade by soldiers from the Indian and the Pakistani side.
The Beating Retreat Ceremony culminates with coordinated lowering of the flags of India and Pakistan amid loud cheering and slogans from the crowd.
On Thursday, India celebrated its 77th Independence Day and Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation for the tenth consecutive time from the ramparts of the Red Fort in the national capital.
