New Delhi: Haryana Lokhit Party chief and elected MLA from Sirsa assembly constituency Gopal Kanda, who has pledged support to BJP in government formation in Haryana, on Friday left his interview with ABP News midway, after he was questioned in connection to the allegations and criminal cases against him.

“All the independents including me have faith in Modiji’s leadership. That is why we have pledged support to the Bharatiya Janata Party,” he said.

When asked about the criminal allegations against him, Kanda said there are no cases on him and all the accusations are baseless.

When prodded further about the cases mentioned in his affidavit, an enraged Kanda covered the camera and left.

Kanda is a controversial figure in Haryana politics and was once the target of BJP protests. He had to resign as minister in Haryana government in the wake of legal charges against him.
Kanda was arrested in 2012, in connection with Geetika Sharma murder case – an air hostess with MDLR airline  who had committed suicide, she had left a note accusing Kanda of harassment.

Other charges against him include tax evasion, cheating and cheque bounce.
Kanda was elected to the legislative assembly of the state of Haryana in 2009 as an Independent representative for the Sirsa constituency.

He served for some time as a minister in the Government of Haryana before resigning his post in the wake of legal charges being filed against him.

He founded the Haryana Lokhit Party and contested the 2014 assembly polls unsuccessfully.
