The ruling BJP and its allies have been hitting out at the coalition of the opposition since after they named themselves I.N.D.I.A (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance). Now, a BJP MP has sought the removal of 'India that is Bharat' from the Constitution and asked to replace it with 'Bharat'. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha during a special mention, BJP's Naresh Bansal said that 'India' should be removed as the name of the country and it should be replaced with 'Bharat' in Article 1 of the Consitution
He said that during this 'Amritkall' of India's independence, the symbol of Britishers' slavery should be removed and "the name of this holy land should be amended to 'Bharat' in Article 1 of the Constitution".
Bansal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been putting an effort to free the country from the colonial mindset, adding that it was Britishers who changed the name of the country from 'Bharat' to 'India that is Bharat'.
This comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at the opposition and said that they are completely directionless. The PM also compared the 'INDIA' alliance with the Britishers' East India Company and terror bodies like PFI. He said that the opposition's job is to protest and asked his party leaders to 'focus' on work. He said that India has to be made a developed country by 2047. He made the remarks at BJP's Parliamentary Party meeting.
"...As the Britishers came and named themselves East India Company, in the same way, the opposition is presenting itself in the name of India," the Prime Minister said while taking a jibe at the opposition. In a sharp attack, the Prime Minister further said that even terror organisations like 'Indian Mujahideen' and 'Popular Front of India (PFI)' have 'India' in them.
