The Morbi bridge in Gujarat collapsed on Sunday, claiming the lives of 134 people including women and children. In an aerial footage shared of the aftermath of the incident by news agency ANI, one can see the broken suspension bridge, JCBs cleaning the debris, fire brigade teams along with various NDRF and SDRF teams carrying out rescue operations. 






Ashok Yadav, Inspector General of Rajkot range told ABP News that 134 dead bodies have been recovered till Monday and there were no reports of anyone missing. He then added that the search and rescue operations will be completed by evening.

Nine people associated with the agency overseeing the operations of the bridge have been arrested so far. Home Minister of Gujarat, Harsh Sanghavi while talking to the media on Monday said that a criminal case was registered against the agency which had overseen the operation of the bridge.


Sanghavi also mentioned that investigation under the leadership of the Range Inspector General of Police had begun on Monday itself.

A high power committee has also been constituted by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel to look into the incident.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi also grieved the loss of lives in the horrific accident. He is in the Banswara district of Rajasthan to attend a public programme ‘Mangarh Dham ki Gaurav Gatha’. However, post this event, he will be visiting the Morbi bridge collapse site in Gujarat.
