New Delhi: There aren’t many aspects of the human experience that haven’t been affected by the mass proliferation of social media over the past decade. The platform has been cogently used by a band named ‘Percussion Brothers’ who have used their box/ drawer shaped instrument to ‘strike a chord on social media’.

The two boys from the national capital named Nishant Gugnani and Shivam Nagpal have gained enough popularity on social media, and are now representing India on an international platform in an online Cajon competition, which is being hosted by German music giant ‘Schlagwerk’.

The German music giant will more or less present the world with some of the finest Cajon players in the world and present the winner with the coveted 'Golden Cajon Trophy'

A box shaped percussion instrument played by slapping the front or rear faces with hands, has its origins in the 18th century.

The instrument seems to have suddenly gained tremendous popularity in India in the last 1.5 years.  Today, we often see it being used in music videos, jam sessions and live performances by many bands and artists at various cafes and festivals.

The voting is live for the world to see and they are competing with 152 more entries from across the world. It pleasantly surprises us to already see them being on the 2nd position as per current standings.
