New Delhi: A message is getting viral on social media claiming that if you keep mobile phone in your pocket during rain, you may end up dead.

How? It is being claimed that mobile phone in your pocket may attract thunderbolt during rain.

Interestingly, according to TRAI, there are nearly 120 crore mobile phone users in the country. Hence, the viral message automatically gains importance.

Adding fuel to the fire is a recent death in Rajasthan's Alwar district. As per information, 24-year-old Anil died here after lightning strike on his mobile phone.

The question is-Is it that mobile phone attracts lightning during rain?

ABP News investigation:

When ABP News did an investigation, we found that there is no connection between the two.

Professor in JNU, Budha Singh, an expert in wireless technology said that there was no relation between cell phone and lightning from a thunderstorm.

It is a false propaganda, he added.

Mobile phone doesn't attract thunderbolt, said professor.

Hence this viral message is false.
