New Delhi: A message is getting viral in social media that West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee denied entry into Odisha's Jagannath Puri temple.

At the end of the message, it was also written that Jagannath temple had also put a ban on Indira Gandhi.

However, the message is totally false. WB CM not only visited the temple but also performed prayer there.

Actually, a servitor of Sri Jagannath Temple in Odisha's Puri city was on Tuesday detained by the cop as he opposed the visit of Banerjee to the temple.

The Singhadwara police arrested Somanath Khuntia, a secretary of Shri Jagannath Sevayat Sammilani (SJSS), ahead of her visit to Odisha.

SJSS has warned that WB CM's visit to the Puri temple would hurt the sentiments of lakhs of devotees of Lord Jagannath because she has made controversial statements favouring consumption of beef.

However, on the other hand, senior Puri temple servitor welcomed Banerjee's visit to the temple.

It is pertinent to mention here that Banerjee has been on a three-day visit to Odisha from Tuesday.
