Vikas Dubey Encounter: Priyanka Gandhi Slams UP Govt, Asks ‘What About People Who Gave Him Patronage?’

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi joins several other opposition leaders raising questions over the encounter of notorious gangster Vikas Dubey. She said while the culprit has been killed what about those who had supported him?

New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi slammed the Yogi Adityanath government over the encounter of a notorious gangster and history-sheeter Vikas Dubey. She said while the culprit has been killed nothing has been done about those who were giving him patronage.

In a tweet about the encounter, Gandhi said, "The culprit has been killed but what about crime and people who gave patronage?"

According to reports, Vikas was being brought to Kanpur from Ujjain and had to be produced at the court by 10 am. The vehicle carrying Dubey met with an accident and overturned. The police said that the gangster tried to take advantage of the situation and tried to escape with arms.

The opposition leaders have raised questions regarding the encounter and have demanded investigation on Dubey’s nexus with police and political leaders.

Congress leader Digvijay Singh said that now Dubey’s connection with the police and other government officials will now never be exposed. He also raised questions about the similarity in the encounter of Dubey and his gang members.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav also hit out at the Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government and said the encounter was a way to keep the Yogi government safe.
