New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the development of Varanasi formed the roadmap for India's development as he stressed on the fast-paced completion of projects in his constituency on Tuesday.

Addressing the 98th anniversary celebrations of Sadguru Sadafaldeo Vihangam Yog Sansthan, PM Modi said, "Fast-paced completion of development projects is taking place in Varanasi. Number of tourists to Varanasi in 2019-20 doubled compared to 2014-15."

PM Modi also said that 'su raj' (good governance) was as important to India as 'swaraj' (self-rule).

"Sadguru gave a mantra during freedom movement - of Swadeshi. Now, the nation has started 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat Mission'. Local trade and products are being strengthened, local is being made global," PM Modi said.

PM Modi said that Sadguru Sadafaldeo ji Maharaj and many saints hugely contributed to India's freedom struggle, but their contribution was not described in history the way "it should have been done".
