In yet another incident, a live cockroach was found in the food served to passengers on the Vande Bharat Express.

The passenger was travelling from Shirdi to Mumbai on the Vande Bharat Express when he found a cockroach in the meal on August 19.

After discovering the insect inside the food, the passenger immediately filed a complaint with the railway authorities and demanded action.

A video of the incident is going viral where a passenger is expressing his dissatisfaction on social media.

The video shows the man explaining to the railway authorities that his relative found a dead cockroach in the meal.

“I could not consume the curd. While I was having my food and the dal was in my mouth, my aunt said that she had found a cockroach in it. My 80-year-old grandfather had the same food as well. Do you’ll also have the same food,” he said in the video.

He is heard questioning the authority over food safety and the risk involved with consuming insects.

The social media post also showed an IRCTC complaint log where the complainant wrote, "I found live cockroach in my dal. Sour curd. Also dead cockroach found in the food."

"The TC admitted that food served is of poor quality & food contractor is supplying substandard food and one such incident occurred in the morning train . Immediate & strong action should be taken," the complainant said in a post on X.

IRCTC responded to Wankhedkar’s post on X saying that a penalty has been imposed on the service provider.

“Sir, the inconvenience caused to you is deeply regretted. The matter has been viewed very seriously. Penalty has also been imposed upon the service provider and officials have been deputed to thoroughly inspect the kitchen unit of the service provider,” IRCTC said in their post.

However, this is not the first instance where the passengers have discovered cockroach in their food.

In a similar incident, a passenger travelling from Bhopal to Agra on the Vande Bharat Express found a cockroach in their food. Another passenger while travelling from New Delhi to Varanasi earlier this year also complained that the food was stale.
