Though the movie was scheduled to released on Friday morning, it released after initial hiccups at 12 PM. The film also stars Roshni Prakash, P. Samuthirakani, John Vijay, Mysskin, Radha Ravi, Ridha and Chhaya Devi.

An X user said, "Director Bala is Back with Banger #Vanangaan getting positive reviews everywhere. @arunvijayno1 performance will be talk of the town for next few daysπŸ’₯Best wishes to team❀"

"VANANGAAN - A Worth WATCH. #Vanangaan is an emotional masterpiece with a gripping second half. @arunvijayno1 delivers a heartfelt performance, especially in the emotional climax. Especially that 20 Mins PEAK Performance πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ Yes he has stolen the show! New Girl Roshini and Sister Ridha Good Find πŸ‘Œ The brief yet impactful roles by Mysskin and Samuthirakani add depth to the film," another X user said.

Despite the applause, the film has also faced criticism for its storyline and pacing. A X user said, "#ArunVijay fits well into the ‘Bala’-ish actor role. Playing a dumb character his efforts are evident and he carries the film well. The fight sequences are superbly shot. However, the story hasn’t offered much so far and relies on the second half.

Another X user said, "#Vanangaan - Highly Outdated and predictable story. Boring screenplay. Patience tester. Surya great escape. worst. Waste of time."

"#Vanangaan - Entire movie was a single scene in Nandha. Although  #ArunVijay role reminds off Pithamagan Vikram, but acting πŸ‘ Roshini is good but no scope. BGM πŸ”₯. 1st Half no story. 2nd half  average. #Mysskin role is good. Too much violence.  Weak Screenplay," said added a Twitterati.
