NEW DELHI: A short video showing External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj standing next to an Uzbek woman singing a Bollywood song has gone viral on the social media.

The seven-second clip was shared on Twitter by MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar on Monday.

Kumar, in his tweet, said that Bollywood knows no boundaries, more so in Uzbekistan where legendary Bollywood icons such as Raj Kapoor and Nargis are household names.

The local woman was singing the iconic ‘Ichak Daana Bichak Daana’ from Raj Kapoor's movie Shree 420.

"Bollywood knows no boundaries! More so in Uzbekistan where Raj Kapoor and Nargis are household names. Salute to this Uzbek woman for her spirit as she hums the song 'इचक दाना बीचक दाना' from the classic Shri 420," Kumar wrote.

Swaraj was on her first visit to Uzbekistan. Swaraj had called on Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and held bilateral discussions on Sunday.
India and Uzbekistan are strategic partners with strong historical and cultural linkages.

The minister also paid floral tributes at the bust of India's second prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at his memorial in Tashkent.

Shastri had died in Tashkent in January, 1966 after signing the Tashkent Declaration that formally ended the war between India and Pakistan.

A memorial was built here in his memory.
