New Delhi: BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday demanded that the Attorney General and Solicitor General must be removed after the Uttarakhand High Court set aside President's rule proclamation in the state.

He said that they were unprepared before the court and the government should appoint new people in their places.

Allowed ousted chief minister Harish Rawat's petition challenging the imposition of President's Rule, the court fixed April 29 a floor test for him.

Earlier, the court had told the Centre that it could allow Rawat's petition and ensure that a floor test is held.

The high court had observed that it would be a travesty of justice if the Centre revokes its order imposing President's Rule in the state, and allows someone else to form a government before it gives the verdict.

The court's comments came after the Centre's counsel said it was not in a position to give an assurance that the government would consider putting on hold the recall of its order imposing President's Rule for a week.
