New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed Uttarakhand Rozgar Mela virtually. He congratulated the new recruits and said that they have to contribute their best towards the development of the state and the nation.

Prime Minister said, "With your sense of service, you have to contribute your best in the efforts of development and trust in the state and the nation."

"Today the country has resolved to prepare the youth of India for the new century through the new National Education Policy. The responsibility of putting this resolution on the ground in Uttarakhand rests on the shoulders of my young friends like you, the PM added.

The PM said that both the Central government and the Uttarakhand government have tried to ensure new opportunities for youth based on their interest and capabilities.

"Be it the Central government or BJP government in Uttarakhand, it has been our continuous effort to ensure new opportunities & modes to move forward, for every youth on the basis of their interests & abilities," PM Modi said, as quoted by ANI.

He added that in the past few months, the Central government gave appointment letters to lakhs of youths. "Wherever there is a BJP government in states or Union Territories, such campaigns at a large scale are being run in all those places," he added.

PM Modi said that the old perception of 'pahad ka paani aur pahad ki jawani pahad ke kaam nahi aati' needs to be changed.

"We have to change the old perception that 'pahad ka paani aur pahad ki jawani pahad ke kaam nahi aati'. We have to change this. That is why it has been a continuous effort by the Central government that the youth of Uttarakhand and our young generation return to their villages," he added.

He said, "For this, new opportunities are being created for employment and self-employment for youth...A lot of investment is being made for infrastructure in Uttarakhand, this will ease commuting to far away places and generate employment in large numbers."

Earlier in January, PM Modi distributed 71,000 appointment letters and virtually addressed newly inducted appointees in various government organisations and departments at Rozgar Mela.

The PM highlighted the importance of the Rozgar Mela stating that it has become an identity of the Centre's good governance.
"Rozgar Mela' has become an identity of our good governance. It is a testament to our commitment towards keeping our promises," PM said.

Emphasising on the change brought into recruitment and promotions, he said, "There was a time when even regular promotions were hampered by various reasons. There have been changes in the recruitment process of the Central government. Now, the recruitment process in Central Government is more time bound and streamlined."

PM Modi told the new recruits about the importance they hold as a working wheel of the government. "It is a new journey of life for those who have got the appointment letter today. Being an important part of the government, you will be an active participant in the journey of a developed India," the PM said.

"In the business world, it is said, 'The consumer is always right'. Similarly, 'Citizen is always right' should be the motto of Governance," the PM said focusing on what should be the objective of Governance. He said that the government is committed to continuing to create more employment and self-employment opportunities.
