Haridwar: The Uttrakhand police issued a fresh notice disallowing people to enter Haridwar ahead of the Kanwar Yatra. Uttrakhand has canceled the Kanwar Yatra this year owing to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis requested people not to enter the state as the Uttar Pradesh government has allowed the Yatra.

According to ANI, in the notice, Uttarakhand police have said that all entry and exit points of Haridwar districts have been sealed and there is no permission to participate in the Kanwar Yatra.
"Vehicle of anyone attempting to enter the district will be seized and action is taken under Disaster Management Act," the police notice further said.
Earlier, Haridwar Dist Magistrate C Ravishankar of Uttarakhand told ANI, "We've started process of sending Gangajal via post to devotees. We're also planning to supply Gangajal in tankers & are in talks with the administration of neighbouring states to avoid large gathering here".
Uttarakhand minister Subodh Uniyal on Wednesday said Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has a "big heart" and he will not mind his government's decision of canceling the Kanwar Yatra amid fears of the third Covid wave.
"We should have faith in religion but that doesn't mean we can play with lives. The IMA had warned of a third wave. Even the prime minister had expressed concern over it. The decision to cancel Kanwar Yatra has been taken in the larger public interest," Uniyal who is also the state government's official spokesman was quoted as saying by PTI.
"The state government is requesting not only the UP government but governments of all neighbouring states from where Kanwariyas pour into Haridwar in large numbers during the yatra to stop them at places from where they originate," he said.
