New Delhi: In Uttarakhand, the Congress has hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's promise to provide jobs to one lakh youth in 6 months. Congress Delhi unit president Anil Kumar has termed Arvind Kejriwal's promise as a "false guarantee". He claimed that only 440 people have got jobs in the national capital Delhi in the last seven years.

Kejriwal had said on Sunday that if his party comes to power after the upcoming assembly elections, concrete steps will be taken to prevent migration from Uttarakhand, unemployment allowance to be given to the unemployed per month and 80 per cent reservation for the youth of the state in local jobs.

Kejriwal had made six promises, including giving unemployment allowance of 5,000 rupees per month to one unemployed person from each family when his party came to power.

84% Posts Vacant In Delhi

A statement issued by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Anil Kumar said, "84 per cent of the posts in the employment department are vacant. Only 440 people have got jobs in the last seven years and Arvind Kejriwal is promising one lakh jobs in Uttarakhand in six months.''

"Arvind has given a six-point false guarantee to the people of Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand, as he has given to the people of Delhi," Kumar said. The Congress leader said the Delhi government should give unemployment allowance of 7,000 rupees per month to 13 lakh youth registered on the government portal.

"Kejriwal has promised to give jobs to people of Uttarakhand in six months just like he promised eight lakh jobs to the people of Delhi in five years," Kumar said. "But after coming to power, only 440 youths have got jobs in Delhi while 84 per cent of the posts are vacant," he said.
