Even as the rescue and relief operations in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, which is facing a major disaster after a glacier broke off at Joshimath, continue unabated, the state administration has put several districts likely to be affected on high alert.

The districts where high alert has been issued include Pauri, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Haridwar and Dehradun. As per reports, rafting has also been stopped in Rishikesh as a precautionary measure.

The government has also appealed to the people not to venture near the Ganga river.
