According to the reports, the victim identified as Vikram Joshi was shot at last night in Vijay Nagar area when he was returning from his sister's home on a motorcycle with his two daughters. Five assailants blocked his way, assaulted him and opened fire at him.
The journalist received bullet injuries on his head and is admitted at a private hospital in a critical condition where doctors are monitoring his health condition.
As per the early probe, it is suspected that the incident could have taken place after Vikram Joshi few days back filled a complaint with Vijay Nagar Police Station alleging that some men were harassing his niece.
Aniket Joshi, brother of the victim reportedly told the police during investigation that Vikram few days back lodged a complaint and opposed some men who were harassing his niece. "A case was also registered following which he was shot by those miscreants," Ankit said, as quoted by news agency IANS.
Besides inquiring the family members, the Uttar Pradesh police also investigated the CCTV footage which showed Joshi who was riding a bike with his two daughters, was suddenly attacked by a group of men. The attackers in the video could be seen dragging Vikram and assaulting him brutally before opening fire at him.

Soon after shooting at Joshi, the miscreants run away while the daughters run to their crying and seeking for help. A couple of people come forward to offer help to the injured man.
Acting swiftly, the Ghazaibad Police managed to crack the case and arrested five accused in connection with the case.
Kalanidhi Naithani, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ghaziabad reportedly said that "five accused in connection with the case in which a journalist was shot by some men in Ghaziabad's Vijay Nagar have been identified. The accused are being identified as as Mohit, Dalbir, Akash, Ravi and Shakir."
