Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has decided to keep all the students that were brought by buses from Rajasthan's Kota, in quarantine.


Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish K Awasthi revealed at a press conference that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered for over 10,500 children to be sent to home quarantine. Before that, all of them will be tested for Covid-19 and then sent for home quarantine in their respective districts.

"The contact details of the children were also taken by the authorities," he added.

The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday sent 250 buses to Kota in Rajasthan to bring back home around 7500 students from the state during the ongoing countrywide lockdown. This garnered a lot of reactions with many asking for the same to be done for migrant workers who have been desperate to come back home in these difficult times.

Additionally, in the press conference, Awasthi informed that CM Yogi has ordered testing facilities to be started in the government's medical colleges and divisions. He further revealed that the decision to continue with a complete lockdown in districts with 10 or more cases was also reviewed in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the State Health Department has informed that 84 new coronavirus cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The total number of cases in the state is 1184. This includes 1026 active cases, 140 discharged, and 18 deaths.
