A car accident left four women and a child dead and five others were seriously injured in Handia on Thursday.  The deceased along with the injured people were traveling in the vehicle that hit an electric pole near the Handia toll plaza, reported news agency IANS.


The car was heading towards Vindhyachal when it collided with an electric pole on the highway near Handia. “Injured have been moved to a hospital and post-mortem is conducted of those who died,” said A. Agrawal, additional superintendent of police Gangapar, according to the news agency ANI.

The police and administration have been extending all kinds of help to the affected families, added Agrawal. The incident took place near the plaza when the driver apparently lost control and hit the electric pole, the report added.


Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed grief over the loss of lives in the road accident. He paid condolence to the affected families and asked district administration to ensure proper treatment to the injured, according to the chief minister chief minister’s (CMO) office.


 “The DM and senior police officers have been instructed to reach the spot and get relief work done on a war footing,” the CMO added.


All the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.


Earlier on Tuesday, three people died and four others were injured after a loader truck collided with an autorickshaw in Azamgarh. According to the CCTV camera,  the truck lost control crashing into a road divider before it hit the autorickshaw off-camera, reported NDTV.


The accident took place near Thekma in Azamgarh's Bardah around 10 pm on Tuesday. The truck first hit the autorickshaw and then rammed into an electric pole.
