To news agency ANI, Narayan said “I think Hanuman ji was a Jat. It is in the nature of a Jat to help anyone who is in trouble, irrespective of whether the concerned person is known to him or her. It is similar to the way in which Hanuman joined Lord Ram to rescue Sita after she was abducted by Raavan.”
This is the third identity that has been attributed to the Hindu god. Earlier, Yogi Adityanath termed the god a Dailt, his party colleague and MLC Bukkal Nawab Thursday said the deity was "actually a Muslim". After openly supporting the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya, the prominent Shia politician last year donated a 30-kg brass bell at a famous Hanuman temple. He offered prayers there, prompting the SP to comment, "It is nothing but a publicity stunt. He is hopping from one temple to another to hog media limelight."
A Jain priest in Bhopal has claimed Lord Hanuman was neither a Dalit nor a tribal, but a Jain.
