New Delhi: A video exposing a jail administration in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district is circulating rapidly on social media, which reveals how addictives are being sold inside premises. The video that has apparently been shot by a jail inmate shows him alleging the jailer and jail superintendent of trying to extort money in lieu of providing facilities inside the jail.
10 videos from inside the jail have been going viral. As per the inmate who shot the video, jailer Lal Ratnakar Sigh and Jail Superintendent Abhinas Singh are carrying out corrupt practices inside the jail, and have okayed the sale of heroine and marijuana inside premises.
As per the video, in Barracks number 4 and 7, inside compound number 2, the prisoners are allowed to use heater and mobile phones, on payment of Rs 1000. It is alleged that the meal served in the jail are deliberately made bland so that the prisoners are forced to go and buy food from canteen at the cost of Rs 20.
The video alleges that at the cost of Rs 10,000 per month, inmates are allowed to sell addictives and those prisoners who rebel against it are threatened of death or a transfer.
Taking cognizance of the video, Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya has initiated a probe. He said that the authenticity of the video and whether is actually is of Mau jail or not, is a matter of investigation.
