“The candidature of Sangeeta Sengar, the wife of former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is a convict in the 2018 Unnao rape case, has been cancelled,” PTI quoted Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh as saying.

He further said the Unnao BJP chief has been asked to submit three fresh names for finalising a candidate from the seat given earlier to Sangeeta Sengar and expressed confidence of the saffron party winning the panchayat elections.

The Uttar Pradesh panchayat elections 2021 will be conducted in four phases starting April 15. Unnao will vote in the third phase on April 26. The results will be declared on May 2.
