New Delhi: Months ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress in Bundelkhand on Friday.
Taking a jibe at the BJP, Yadav said, "If SP can build expressway in 22 months, why did the BJP take 4.5 years to do the same thing? This is because they don't want to work for the welfare of the people of UP." Attacking the Congress, Akhilesh said, "The people will reject the Congress in the upcoming assembly elections and they would not be able to win any seats."
"This time, all doors are closed for the BJP in Bundelkhand region. People will not accept their false promises and would ensure that the BJP does not return to power this time," he said, adding, "Inflation, unemployment and reduction in farmers' income are the issues which would decide the fate of the BJP in the upcoming polls."
At the 'Samajwadi Vijay Yatra' held at Ginnot Bagh in Lalitpur on Thursday, citing the reference of Partition, Yadav said that the BJP government's mismanagement of the Covid-19 crisis left many children as orphans and the pictures depicting this irony reminded one of India's partition.
Akhilesh said, "Who will forget those pictures... when the lockdown was imposed and our labourer brothers working in other states had to walk back home. No one would have ever seen such pictures. Something this big was not even seen during India's partition. The BJP government had put up barricades and did not allow any of our labourer brothers to enter Uttar Pradesh. We do not know for how long they had to wait to get to their own homes. Our brothers had to be accommodated in cow sheds and open grounds."
The SP supremo further went on to say, "They had to stay without food for days. The government could have stopped these people from walking home by helping them in a timely manner."
